Crispa’s Philip Cezar beat Toyota’s Ramon Fernandez in the first game of their best-of-three series for the 1979 PBA one-on-one tournament.

Philip Cezar outclassed a poor-shooting Ramon Fernandez, 15-8, in the opener of their one-on-one championship series sponsored by Sprite.
Cezar, the second seed, raced to a 10-2 lead as Fernandez repeatedly missed on undergoal stabs.
Although the top-seeded Fernandez was able to narrow the gap at 6-10, another miss virtually killed all his chances as Cezar knocked in three points for a 13-6 lead, 27 seconds to go.
Fernandez tried for three-point plays with attempts from outside but missed all of them.
The second game will be held on Oct. 2 and the third, if necessary, will be on Oct. 11.
The winner of the match gets P25,000 while the loser will receive P15,000.
